The Flagler Awards is an annual statewide competition recognizing outstanding Florida tourism marketing. The program was created by VISIT FLORIDA to honor the countless individuals and organizations that help position Florida as the No. 1 travel destination in the world. Each year the Flagler Awards pay tribute to the determined efforts of those who use their skill, resourcefulness, creativity and innovative spirit to market Florida to the world.
When do I enter?
The online entry period for the 2019 Flagler Awards begins Monday, May 13. The deadline for entries is Friday, May 31 (late entries will be accepted through June 4, but with a $50 late fee per entry). VISIT FLORIDA will notify winners via email in advance of the Florida Governor’s Conference on Tourism (Sept. 4-6, 2019). Awards will be presented at the conference during the Flagler Awards ceremony.
Who should enter?
Any Florida-based business, organization or individual actively involved in promoting the various products and experiences that make up Florida's tourism industry may enter the Flagler Awards. That includes hotels, resorts, inns, condos and other accommodators; restaurants; museums, parks, gardens, theme parks, tours and other attractions; rental car companies, airlines and other transportation companies; destination marketing organizations such as Convention & Visitors Bureaus, Tourist Development Councils, Chambers of Commerce and others; visitor centers; associations; non-profit and not-for-profit organizations; private individuals; as well as government agencies involved in tourism marketing (parks and recreation, fishing and wildlife, etc.). You do not have to be a VISIT FLORIDA Partner to enter.
At the direction of their client, entries may also be prepared and submitted by professional marketing companies or individuals involved with the creation and implementation of the entry. This includes advertising, public relations, design, web and other marketing agencies. It should be noted, however, that any awards for winning entries are presented to the tourism or hospitality client for whom the work was performed, not the submitting agency.
What should I enter?
You can enter any marketing materials, programs, events or activities used during the previous calendar year to promote a Florida tourism product, service or experience to visitors. Some part of the entry must have occurred in the previous calendar year to be eligible.
