John C. Tolbert is responsible for the day-to-day operations at Boca Raton Resort & Club, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, one of the country’s premier resort destinations and private club facilities. Tolbert additionally serves on several business and community boards, including American Hotel & Lodging Association, Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council, Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, Palm Beach Cultural Council, Orange Bowl, Boca Bowl, Boca Raton Center for the Arts & Innovation Nova University Business School MBA Hospitality as Advisor to the Board and Florida’s Re-Open Task Force Industry Working Group.
As President and Managing Director, Tolbert oversees the Boca Raton Resort & Club and Boca Beach Club, a modernized Mediterranean resort village on 356 breathtaking acres that offers guests an award-winning spa, championship golf and tennis facilities, an expansive private beach and luxurious 32-slip marina complement 1,047 deluxe guestrooms and fifteen food and beverage outlets. In 2016 and 2017, the resort was named a Luxury Resort of the Year and received the F&B Award of Excellence in the Waldorf/Conrad Luxury Division of Hilton. In addition, Tolbert himself personally received Luxury leader of the Year from Hilton Worldwide.
A hospitality leader with extensive management and operational capabilities, Tolbert previously held the position of president of sales and marketing for Blackstone, during which he launched the LXR brand of luxury hotels as well as area general manager for Marriott Hawaii and managing director of the New York Palace. Earlier in his career, Tolbert led the team of sales and marketing executives in the opening of one of the most significant resort developments in the Caribbean, the El Conquistador Resort and Club, a Waldorf Astoria Resort.
A serial entrepreneur, Tolbert founded Revelation Consultancy, a leading real estate advisory group that counsels decision-makers in the areas of strategy, marketing, sales, and operations with specialty in resort, residential real estate, private clubs and hospitality industries. Past clients include Goldman Sachs; Deutsche Bank, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas; Archon Capital, Waldorf-Astoria Park City; Falcon Investors, The St. Regis Deer Valley and The Deer Crest Club at The St. Regis; Firesky Capital, Barbuda, Anguilla; Talisker Corporation - Talisker Club and The Canyons; Noble House Hotels and Resorts.
Throughout his career, Tolbert has been involved with numerous non-profit and charitable organizations. In 2017, he co-chaired the Wee Dream Ball benefitting Florence Fuller Child Development Center, was top community fundraising dancer for Boca’s Ballroom Battle benefitting the George Snow Scholarship Fund, and co-founded Stronger & Better Together benefitting early relief efforts for Puerto Rico, where Tolbert assisted in providing multiple flights with food, medicine and supplies as well as financial donations. As President of the Boca Resort, Tolbert is intimately involved with the resort’s Care Fund that directly supports team members in need. Through the Resort’s community outreach program, hundreds of charities, locally, nationally and internationally receive donations and monetary support.
In May 2018, Tolbert was named “Business Leader of the Year’ by the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he was nominated for Florence Fuller Child Development Centers’ 17th Annual Men with Caring Hearts Awards and co-chaired the George Snow Scholarship Fund’s Boca’s Ballroom Battle and the 2018 Wee Dream Ball benefitting Florence Fuller. Tolbert currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Boca Raton Historical Society, Boca Museum of Art and Florence Fuller Child Development Center and is Co-chair of the 2020 CEO Build for Habitat for Humanity as well as the Boca Museum of Art’s 70th Anniversary Gala Dinner & Dance.
As a personal project, Tolbert puppy-raised Hays, a black Labrador, as part of the Assistance Dogs of Hawaii Program, where he has since become a certified Canine Good Citizen AKA Therapy Dog. Currently, Hays serves as Canine Director of the Boca Raton Resort & Club.
